project: single family house in Aleksandrów type: architecture location: Aleksandrów, Warsaw, PL size: 130 m² team: Marcin Maraszek, Maciej Kaufman, Natalia Janek status: building permission
The house is located in the former village of Aleksandrów (now part of Warsaw), in the buffer zone of the Masovian Landscape Park, on land that has been owned by the family for years. The building occupies a narrow strip of land to the south of an old oak alley. The trees were planted by the investor’s father. Since then the whole plot was covered with young saplings. The proximity of this forest affected the narrow and long plan of the building. Each section of the house has height adapted to its function (low garage, high living room, two-story sleeping area, etc.). The roof slopes use the entire range of angles allowed by the local masterplan: 30, 35, 40, 45, 50 degrees. Meandering floorplan facilitates a better use of the unique nature of the plot: garage entrance and access from the south, and old oaks and forest from the north. The building is finished with light plaster with mica and white roof tiles. The white shape of the house contrasts with the lush green background, making the traditional form of the house seem unreal, though cheerful.
