project: Warsaw Commuter Rail type: public space location: Grodzisk Mazowiecki, PL size: – team: Marcin Maraszek, Maciej Kaufman, Tomasz Stanisławczyk status: 2nd Prize in competition, 2016
The purpose of this project is to create a unified, unique architecture for the platforms, which would be commensurate with the historic and current meaning of WKD, by the functional and esthetic standard it sets out. The project offers a unified small architecture system for the platforms, suited to the scale and the intimate character of WKD, also integrated with the visual information system.
Visual identification system serves a dual function:
The unified architecture of all of the platforms on the WKD line as a brand and an identification element of WKD. Calm and toned colors of the small architecture elements constitute an identification feature of the train line, and also allow to blend easily into different surrounding – both the city, and the landscape of the suburban area.
Information for the commuters – using color, pictograms and text: information stands, signs, glass-cases. The color is used purely in order to highlight the information, and draw the customers’ attention.
