The idea of this project was based on the Brack and Zielona streets specificities. The new special organization of both streets will be based on the their ulnike specificities:
exposing and outlining historical buildings of the busy Bracka street,
creating three small squares/gardens in the Zielona street quarters. Integrating them with the street’s public space.
The designated places become a starting point for creating pedestrian enclaves, separated from the street and free from traffic. Those are the places distinguish themself by a different flooring and arrangement of green terrains and elements of small architecture (benches, lighting pots). They are the implementation of the woonerf idea.
Simple modular elements like flagstones, setts, benches and pots were used to express the different character of each street.
BRACKA STREET is one of the streets leading to the old market square. It has a city character. The pedestrian enclaves have a portion of free space for gastronomical purposes, which in indicated hours can also serve as temporary parking spaces for delivery trucks.
ZIELONA STREET has a private character. Some of the ground floors are inhabited. Pedestrian enclaves has a neighborly character. The public area of Zielona Street has three annexes in a form a green squares and courtyards:
CDN square, at the corner of Zielona and Świętojańska street, has a character of an open park space on the closure of the view axis of. Świętojańska street is a green gate for the street alongside the existing garden.
City’s Artist Exposition Bureau Coutyard is s a multifunctional space dedicated to the exhibitions, lectures and theatrical events. The planned extention of the CAEB takes a form of an arcade, which would allow a free access form Zielona street
The square situated at the corner of Zielona and Bracka street is designed on the parcel of a enclosed terrain of transformer station. This square at the street corner is a functional focal point of this establishment: on one hand it is full of green areas, on the other it allows for recreation of larger groups of people. The presence of water attracts people and gives it a contemplating and relaxing character.
