Karlpooling

Karlovac, a city of four rivers, faces rising flood risks due to climate change. The project proposes transforming Luščić barracks into an experimental district rooted in urban pooling—sharing resources and fostering collaboration.

Blue-green infrastructure, including canals and ponds, turns rainwater into a valuable resource, enhancing biodiversity and public space. Inspired by Karlovac’s Renaissance heritage, the design emphasizes community, resilience, and environmental consciousness. It poses a question relevant well beyond Karlovac itself: what should an ideal city look like today?
