The Warsaw Uprising Mound Park is the Fourth Nature refuge on an artificial hill made from post-WWII debris. Rising 40 meters, it gradually evolved into a ruderal "forest" after the landfill was closed. The area was reclaimed both ecologically and symbolically, beginning with the erection of a memorial in 1994.
The project enhances biodiversity through natural succession, introduces bioreceptive rubble concrete, and recycles debris for structures like retaining walls and gabions, highlighting Warsaw's circular economy legacy. It has received numerous international awards in public space and landscape design.
