Steelworks Ecosystem

The catalogue of 15th edition of the Europan international competition, edited by Hubert Trammer and Archigrest, is dedicated to the theme Productive Cities. It presents ideas for reindustrializing urban and post-industrial areas. In Warsaw, the competition focused on the former Warsaw Steelworks (now ArcelorMittal) site, inviting designs for a multifunctional district that combines industrial activity with housing and recreation.

The catalog features both awarded and non-awarded projects along with jury comments, offering a broad collection of innovative concepts. It also provides an overview of all seven Europan competitions held in Warsaw over more than a decade, placing them in the context of the unique “subculture” that Europan has developed across Europe over the past several decades.

As part of preparing this publication, we also created detailed competition guidelines based on interviews, site analyses, and urban studies, and managed their editing, English translation, and graphic design.
